How therapy might help you
Whether you have been thinking about therapy for a while or reached a point where life is challenging, talking it through with a psychologist can be a good first step.
As a psychologist I use evidence-based psychological tools such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy or Compassionate Focused Therapy to come up with a formulation specific to what you bring and work together in suggestions for moving forward.
As a psychotherapist working within an existential framework, I can help you unpack complexities within your story in a therapeutic space that offers safety for questioning, considering different possibilities and creative exploration.
If you would like to enquire about therapy, please get in touch for an initial discussion.
Women’s health
The practice specialises in supporting women’s mental health, from adolescence to retirement and beyond. I am trained in psychological models evidence-based to support women at different stages, e.g. CBT for perimenopause, menopause.
When talking therapy often helps:
Stress from personal life or challenges at work
Family and relationship difficulties
Bereavement, or ambiguous loss
Managing an acute or chronic physical illness diagnosis, treatment or pain
Women’s health, including perinatal, perimenopause and menopause.
Depression, or low mood
Anxiety in different forms e.g, social anxiety, OCD, GAD, BRFBs, worry or feelings of panic
Difficulties with self esteem, lack of confidence or imposter syndrome
Trauma from a one-off event, or a complex history from childhood experiences
Sleep problems from insomnia to early waking
The practice specialises in the intersection between mental and physical health across all ages. Having worked within the NHS both within GP surgeries and as psychologist on hospital teams, I have experience supporting people living with many conditions e.g. diabetes, MS, Chrohn’s Disease, IBS, tinnitus, migraines, cancer, cardiac conditions and rare genetic diseases.
What happens in a session?
At an initial assessment session, I listen to what you are finding challenging in life and we work together to establish therapeutic goals. Whatever your story, therapy with a qualified psychologist or psychotherapist is evidence-based and confidential.
I work from an integrative framework rooted in existentialism, using evidence-based talking therapies (e.g. Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassionate Focused Therapy (CFT), and PhotoTherapy, and relational Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to try to help with dilemmas causing distress. The collaborative work in sessions focuses on client strengths and building tools to help with moving forward.
How much does a session cost?
Consultations can take place in person at my psychology clinic in Hampshire or online or in some cases, at your home. After an initial consultation, walk & talk sessions in Hampshire are also possible. Therapy consultation sessions are usually sixty minutes long and are charged at £125 per session, payable on booking.
Please note that clients are liable for any additional charges e.g. report writing, travel to and from session as relevant and in the case of insurance, any fees not covered by the insurer.
The number of sessions required to help facilitate change can vary from as little one to two sessions to a longer period, depending on what you are hoping to see change in your life, and how best that might be achieved. This is something that is covered in an initial session.
